Dr. Ariel Place, PsyD, LPCC

Founder, Therapist, Connector

Dr. Ariel Place is a licensed mental health professional and lifelong equine enthusiast who founded EquiCatalyst Connections to merge the healing power of horses with the science of therapy. With years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families, she believes that connection—not perfection—is the catalyst for real growth. Ariel draws on trauma-informed care, somatic techniques, and parts work, and is passionate about helping clients feel seen, safe, and empowered—in and out of the arena.

Justin Schendel, MBA

Calm, Capable, Relational

Justin brings a steady hand and grounded energy to EquiCatalyst Connections. As Ariel’s husband and a trusted part of the ranch team, he supports sessions by handling the horses, maintaining safety, and quietly encouraging growth. A United States military veteran and survivor of a traumatic brain injury, Justin offers a unique depth of empathy and calm under pressure. His background in federal service and his love for animals make him a reassuring presence for both clients and horses alike.

A former microbiologist, she blends scientific precision with heartfelt compassion—traits that helped shape Ariel’s upbringing and now enrich the experience of every visitor to the ranch. Her calm demeanor and thoughtful presence offer clients a sense of safety and warmth, whether she’s tending to the horses, supporting a session behind the scenes, or simply welcoming guests with kindness. Deborah’s lifelong love for animals and nurturing spirit make her a beloved member of the EquiCatalyst team.

Our Extended Herd

Reliable, Heartfelt, Connected

EquiCatalyst Connections is more than a program—it’s a living, breathing community. From trusted friends who help manage the day-to-day ranch flow to compassionate souls who step in to guide, listen, and lift others up, our extended support team makes everything we do possible. Whether offering a steady hand to a nervous client, feeding horses at dawn, or simply bringing laughter when it's needed most, these individuals embody the quiet strength and shared purpose that define our space.

They are the calm behind the courage, the grace behind the grit—and just like the horses, they meet each client with presence, warmth, and dignity.
